rstudio::conf 2020 talks
The vibe at rstudio::conf 2020 felt a bit like a festival. The mood among the fourteen hundred or so mostly first time attendees who packed the pre-conference workshops(opens in a new tab) was electric with expectation. And the crowd kept growing: over two thousand people stood and cheered J.J. Allaire at the conclusion of his opening keynote where he discussed RStudio’s commitment to open source software and announced that RStudio had become a Public Benefit Corporation(opens in a new tab).
And then, things got better: two days of talks in four parallel tracks with sessions for newcomers and experts alike covering topics from learning R to advanced tidyverse and shiny programming and deep dives into deep learning, modeling and applications from finance to pharma. But, it wasn’t all work either. The mild San Francisco winter weather and downtown location encouraged dining out, a trip to the rain forest at the California Academy of Sciences and tech talk over drinks at eclectic SF night spots.
